Denver Fox HuntRecap by Rick von Glahn, NØKKZPhotographs by George Riedmuller, NØNJM February 13, 2005Never let it be said that George, N0NJM, isn't a sneaky concealer of hidden transmitters. It has become "traditional" of late to have at least two, sometimes more, transmitters involved for each hunt. One to bring folks in from a distant starting location, a second to challenge their close in hunting skills. George was trying to come up with something unique. Most likely, in the long annals of fox hunting something similar has been done before, but not that I've heard. George's car is the White SUV. Note how the hunters are swarming over his car. They seem to think that the second fox is in the area but can't seem to get it definitely fixed to one antenna. Why, might you ask, are they having such a hard time? Well, they are assuming it must be located somewhere in the area as it existed when they drove up. Problem ... George has hidden the first transmitter a fair walking distance from where the cars needed to park. While the first hunter to arrive on the scene was walking out to find the primary transmitter and read the directions on how to tune into the second fox (on a different frequency) George was busily hiding that second transmitter in the car of the first hunter to arrive. Yep, Ben, KB0UBZ arrived first on scene and the second transmitter is, unbeknownst to him, in his dark colored SUV. Took 'em a while to figure it out.
