MS 150 2000
Southern Section of Route Day 2
The payoff! Riders with the "right stuff" get to cruise over the Royal Gorge Bridge. It's scenic to say the least. Although not evident in this picture, it's a long way to the bottom, 1053 feet from bridge to Arkansas River. Oh, don't go looking for this view. I Photoshopped away a bunch of unsightly buildings in the foreground. :-)
Ann [KAØZFI], Ben {KBØUBZ] and David [KCØCCH] The ride's over and Cañon City is playing host to the straggling riders and volunteers. It's time for a quick dinner then, back home for a well earned rest.
Tom Isenberg [NØKSR] 2nd from left Here's the MS Executive Committee for last year. I'm not going to name them all with two radio operator exceptions. I just wanted you to know there is a dedicated staff that works very hard to make the MS 150 a pleasure for riders and volunteers alike. Most of these folks are volunteers just like you and me. They get no remuneration for their services. I'm not sure, but I think only 4 individuals shown here are paid staff. So, you're not alone out there. These folks have put in hundreds of hours of hard work preparing for the 150 in the year leading up to the big event. And, they get a great kick out of our communications nets. Jerry and I are always getting pats on the back for a job well done. And we remind them, each time, that it's you guys in the trenches who deserve all the credit. |
